Hannah's Work Experience - Blog

I was nervous starting my first day as a designer at Dytham Jewellery, walking in I wasn't sure what my week would entail. At first I wouldn't have considered myself a creative person however over the course of the week I think I may have changed my mind. For my first day Jemma outlined the tasks she had planned to keep me busy throughout the week. I was given three exciting projects, the first project was to design an engagement ring that combined both modern and antique styles. Once completing the first stage of designing rings, the second stage was to design a collection which included a ring and pendant. The ring and pendant would then be made in sterling silver. Initial ideas and rough sketches of designs. Once chosen a concept the designs were then developed. Hannah's Work Experience Week - Designing a ring

At Dytham Jewellery Designers we took the opportunity during work experience week at a local high school to learn the ways of being a designer to one student, Hannah. Once Hannah chosen a design she was happy with she then was introduced to CAD (computer aided design) program. This allo

March Birthstone - Aquamarine

March Birthstone - Aquamarine The Aquamarine is known to be March’s birthstone as well as representing the 19th wedding anniversary. Aquamarine’s preferred colour is a somewhat strong dark blue to a slightly green-blue colour. However, through heat treatment the affect turns the aquamarine more blue rather than a green. This stone found its name because of its colour linking to seawater, ‘aquamarine’ is derived from the Latin word for seawater. This gemstone is found in the countries Nigeria, Brazil, Vietnam, Mozambique, Madagascar, Zambia and is mined at the high elevations in Pakistan’s Karakoram Mountains. This stunning gemstone rates at a 7.5 to an 8 on the Mohs hardness scale, therefore
