The idea of birthstones - a gemstone assigned to each month of the year - is thought to be an ancient one, and scholars trace it back to the Breastplate of Aaron that was described in the book of Exodus in the Bible. Here are our birthstones for each month. You will find in other places the months vary with what gemstones they say it is, this is due to variation and change over the centurys. Our birthstones are more modern/traditional rather than mystical or ayurvedic.
